I know that I haven't posted in a while, but I've been busy helping my dad with yard work. Mostly picking up the clippings from his trimming the hedge. Also, yesterday one of Dad's old doctorate students-oddly enough the last one who actually managed to finish his doctorate, dissertation and all-and the doctorate student that is going to be starting in the fall came over to dinner, which was a lot of fun.
On Monday, at my riding lesson, I rode in the outdoor ring for the first time since I started riding at Rocking Horse Equestrian Center (my stable) one year ago. It was a lot of fun and also very odd because the outdoor ring is about one and a half times larger than the indoor ring, so I had to half-halt a lot, even though I was riding Rosie.
On Thursday I went to the Fourth Annual Homeschooler Not-Prom with a bunch of friends. Basically all that we did was dress up in pretty clothes, stand around at the Webster Arboretum and take pictures, then go to Bruster's and get half-off banana splits by bringing our own bananas. It was a lot of fun though.
I haven't done a lot of stuff other than that this week, except watching the Olympics once they started.

School and stuff

I know that I haven't posted in a while and I'm sorry, but this Monday I got accepted at SUNY Brockport so I've kind of had a lot going on dealing with that, plus figuring out where I'm going to live, because if I live on campus it will have to be in a forced triple (a double with three people living in it) which doesn't sound like all that much fun, or I can be in a car for at least two hours every day while commuting, both of which sound like absolute hell only about 5,000 times worse. But my friend Alex is staying with the mother of a friend of her godfathers and if their is an extra room I might be able to stay there as well because it's only a couple of minutes away from campus.
I should go figure out what books I need to get for the classes I'm taking and see if I can get them at a store a bit closer to home than the store on campus.

More on horses

I'm sorry I haven't written in a while.

Today I had my riding lesson and I'm really happy, because about a month ago Rosie put her left hind foot out of her window and kind of cut it up, so she's been out of action for this past month, but I had the honor of being the first to ride her since she got hurt. What I'm really excited about though, is the fact that I got her to TROT over cavelletti poles, not once, but TWICE IN A ROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a truly historic event seeing as how she's never trotted over a single cavelletti pole for me, EVER.

Sorry that this is such a short post, but I should go pack now since I'm leaving for NYC tomorrow to see my cousin and be at her wedding on Saturday.

Today is Margaret's birthday and so we're trying to figure out what we are going to do to celebrate(especially me because I'm a bad sister and don't have a present) since Margaret is working tonight for the devil being a telemarketer.
On Monday during my lesson I fell off of Goldie, the pony that I sometimes ride, but it was what my Aunt Jeannie would call a "baby fall." I was learning how to put my feet back in the stirrups if I lose them-at a trot. I was going clockwise and had my outside foot out and had almost got my foot back in the stirrup when I lost my inside stirrup and then, while trying to get Goldie to slow down AND get my stirrups at the same time, I realized it was a losing battle and I was going to fall anyway. I'm just glad that I realized that in time to grab the pommel and soften my fall and I'm very, very, very glad that Goldie was sweet enough to stay with me until I was completely off instead of just tearing off around the ring. Compared to my other two falls it didn't hurt at all.
That's all for now!

RenFest dress

I'm almost finished with my dress-all that's left to do is put in the hooks and eyes, which my mom is doing, because she's a much better seamstress than I, so she will be better at lining them up properly, especially because the pattern calls for thread eyes.

horses

Today, at my horse-back riding lesson, I was riding Goldie, a pony who is usually the sweetest pony imaginable, and will do anything you ask of her right away and without hesitation, except if you, say, wanted to have her gallop off of a cliff. But today, she was very sweet for the first half of my lesson, but during the second half of my lesson wouldn't walk-her only speed was trot. Except, of course, when I was going to learn how to canter-THAN, of course, she wanted to GALLOP!!!!!!!!! A very interesting change from riding Rosie the Fat and Lazy. I will get pictures of Goldie and Rosie, so you can see my two (usually) favorite mares.

Sewing for Renaissance Fest

Hi, There!

There's not much going on for me today, except that Alex is coming over and we're going to start sewing on costumes for the renaissance festival. The dress that I am going to make is kind of Marie-Antoinette-ish, and, in my own nerdy, home-schooler-ish, opinion, very cool. I'll post a picture of it when I'm done so everybody can see what it looks like.

I guess that's all for right now, but I'll post more later!

New Blog

Hello, everybody!

I probably will be really bad at blogging, but I'm going to try. Today there's not much going on except me starting this blog. I just came home from work at the Webster Library, which was kind of boring at least today, although I have gotten some pretty funny questions from patrons over the years I've worked there.

That's all for now, but I will post more later, I hope.
